Golden Mall - Flushing, Queens

After the Momofuku Ko chefs pointedly agreed with our notion that Asian food in New York doesn't get any better than Flushing, we found ourselves, at last, visiting Golden Mall. This hidden honeycomb of shops and cheap eats has been on our radar for quite some time, but we'd been distracted by the expansive New World Mall food court and downtown Manhattan dining.

We went after work last night, and for 13 dollars had 2 bowls of piping hot lamb noodle soup, an assortment of sides, and the tough love attentions of what the others there called Boss Lady.

When I asked her how people usually order their meal, she responded "small bowl or big bowl." In the end she asked whether we liked our food and seemed to be impressed that we could handle heat.
